These two pieces require a bit of an explanation... The client in this case is a dear family friend who after moving into a new home had purchased a sideboard from a local retail merchant but couldn't find any other pieces to go with it. So they got in touch for one of my first few projects after opening this business. The small sideboard.
The goal was simple. Make a dead ringer for the original piece (previous pictures) that was one section smaller. I think I matched it pretty well.
As I delivered it I couldn't help but notice lots and lots of dishes stacked on the original sideboard, and I casually suggested they could really use a hutch to display the set. These folks keep a tidy home and were still unpacking somewhat from the move. They were keen on the idea but said they'd think about it.
About nine months later they reached out that after thinking about they wanted to move forward with the build. We met and measured, discussed and dreamed a bit if you will. When I asked how they wanted to display the bulk of the set, they said use the middle section and your imagination. But the side shelves are adjustable for later on. After lots of effort and many hours at the computer this is what we came up with:
We're tickled with how this turned out. Very proud to be able to help them bring their idea to life with this piece. This was a great project for some good friends!
Below are a few in progress images for those of you who enjoy that sort of thing.
